Cube Aim Pro 2027 — Trail-Ready Hardtail on a Sensible Budget
The 2027 Cube Aim Pro is built for riders who want a real mountain bike rather than a bike that merely looks like one. It combines Cube’s High Performance Aluminium frame with a 100mm suspension fork, hydraulic disc brakes and a wide-range Shimano Cues 1×11 drivetrain. As a result, you get a bike that copes properly with rooty New Forest singletrack and gravel doubletrack alike, at a price that leaves something in the budget for kit.
High Performance Aluminium Frame with Size Split
The Aim’s frame uses double-butted Aluminium Lite tubing with smoothly finished joints and internal cable routing, including provision for a dropper seatpost later on. Mounting points cover Cube’s Semi-Integrated Carrier 2.1 and a flat-mount kickstand, so the bike adapts easily to commuting duty. Furthermore, Cube’s Size Split system pairs 27.5in wheels with the XS and S frames and 29in wheels with M, L and XL, which keeps the handling consistent across the range rather than compromising the smaller sizes.
100mm SR Suntour XCT Suspension Fork
A 100mm-travel SR Suntour XCT fork takes the sting out of roots, ruts and broken tarmac. It’s a straightforward, dependable unit that adds real control on descents without adding much weight. Combined with 2.25in Impac Smartpac tyres on Acid Pro 25 tubeless-ready rims, the front end stays composed on loose surfaces and predictable when you’re braking hard into a corner.
Shimano Cues 1×11 Drivetrain
Shimano’s Cues groupset brings genuine reliability down to this price point. The 11-speed Cues rear derailleur and 11-50T cassette give a huge spread of gears, so steep climbs stay manageable and you’re not spinning out on the flat. Because it’s a single-ring setup, there’s no front mech to fettle and the chainline stays clean and quiet on rough ground.
Shimano Hydraulic Disc Brakes
Shimano hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors front and rear deliver consistent stopping power in the wet, which matters far more in the UK than outright peak power. They need very little hand effort, so your fingers stay fresh on longer descents. It’s a specification that many bikes at this price still don’t match.
